Donald D. Cable

Donald David Cable, 86, of Dennison, was called home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Janice, on Monday, October 10, 2016, from Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Born March 20, 1930, he was the last living child of the late Clinton and Rose Amelia (Hunter) Cable, having been preceded in death by his siblings, Frank, Ralph, Paul and June Cable and Evelyn Stier.

Don lived in Dennison throughout his life and was a 1948 graduate of Dennison High School where he enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball and softball. He continued to be a sports enthusiast for his entire life and was an avid gardener. Don retired from Superior Clay after over thirty years of employment and was a longtime member of the Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship.

On October 14, 1950, Don married the former Janice Lee Witting with whom he enjoyed over 63 years of marriage until her passing on April 22, 2014. They were blessed with three children, Burt (Sue Ann) Cable of Tuscarawas, Suzanne (Brock) Davis of Uhrichsville and Craig Cable who preceded them in death; grandchildren, Nathan (Shannon) Davis, Jeremy (Neeley) Davis, Jordan Cable, Caitlin Lee (Vaughn) Stull, Jennifer (Brent) Jones, Jessica Murphy and Keith O’Hara; and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Elah Davis, Landyn Jones and Jackson Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services for Don, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Stull will be held at noon on Friday, October 14, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship and Mercy Medical Center Hospice.
