Dolores June James, 84, of Uhrichsville, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, November 26, 2021, from Hennis Care Centre in Dover. Born June 13, 1937 in Unionport, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Stella Belle (Burchfield) Greer.
A 1954 graduate of Jewett High School, she was active in the Jewett High School Alumni Association until her health prevented her. She was also a dedicated and hardworking member of the United Methodist Women at the Grant Street and Good Shepherd United Methodist Churches where she was a member for many years. She will be lovingly remembered by her family for the countless ways that she showed her love for them, including sewing their clothes, creating treasured homemade gifts, and even making bridesmaids’ gowns for their weddings. Above and beyond being a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dolores gave an extra level of devotion by being a pastor’s wife, working alongside her husband to serve their congregations with faith, hope, and love, throughout his ministry.
On June 19, 1955, Dolores married Robert R. James with whom she was blessed to spend over 56 years of loving marriage until his passing on November 29, 2011. They are survived by their children, Kathi Hite, Kimberly (David) Potopsky, Todd (Sharon) James, Kelly (Roy) DeMattio, Kendra (John) Duff, and Kristin (Kevin) Beechy; grandchildren, Mindi, Keri, Ashli, Kelci, Logan, Alexis, Landon, Todd, Troy, Jerrod, Jennah, Madison, Cade, Joseph, Kaylee, Kami, Karissa, Lauren, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Skye, Eric, Isaac, Noah, Grace, Faith, Presley, Robert, and Olivia. Dolores is also survived by a brother, Ralph (Donna) Greer; dear sister-in-law, Edith (Charles) Greer Upton; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John Hite; brothers, Donald and Larry Greer; and sisters, Lois Jean Greer, Margie Vanchure, and Carol (Garnett) Davenport.
Services, officiated by Rev. Mark Unrue, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, prior to her interment beside her beloved husband at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Leukemia Society and Community Hospice.
