Delores "Joann" Rollins

Delores Joann Rollins, 75, of Dennison, O., passed away in her home while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, following a brief illness.

Born January 23, 1933 in Piedmont, O., she was a daughter of the late John C. and Olive Mae “Betty” (Milliken) Luyster, Sr.

A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, Joann devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. On September 9, 1956, she married James Rollins with whom she enjoyed forty-four years of marriage until his passing on October 1, 2000.

Joann’s surviving family includes four daughters, Debra Crabtree and her husband, William “Crabby”, of Uhrichsville, Tammy Stull and her companion, Tim Graham, of New Philadelphia, Tracie King and her husband, Eric, of Dennison and Tia Grant and her husband, Edward, of Dennison; seven grandchildren, Lester R. Lucas, Jr., Elizabeth C. Thompson, James W. Reynolds, and Spencer, Alexandria, Jasmine and Xavier Grant; and ten great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Hupp of Dover and Cathy Spears of New Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Luyster of Bowerston; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joann was preceded in death by a brother, John C. Luyster, Jr.; an infant son, Randy Weaver; and an infant daughter, Valerie Patricia Weaver.

Joann was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose Ladies’ Auxiliary where she often went to play bingo. She also enjoyed doing crafts, especially working with plastic canvas.

Services for Joann, officiated by Pastor Michael P. O’Guin, will be held on Saturday, November 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow, at a later date, in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover beside her beloved, late husband.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, during which time, the ladies of the Uhrichsville Moose Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joann’s family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of her final expenses.
