Delores M. Cox

Delores Marie Cox, 74, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 13, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Born November 18, 1936 in Zanesville, O., she was a daughter of the late Floyd Russell and Ruth Maude (Krouskoupf) Williamson.

On June 6, 1955, Delores married Homer Estes Cox with whom she enjoyed nearly forty-three years of marriage until his passing on January 31, 1998. They are survived by eight children, Karin (Bob) Walker of Barnhill, Homer Neil (Kathy) Cox of Midvale, Ruth Stoll of Uhrichsville, Brenda Stull and her companion, Glenn, of Uhrichsville, Ruby Cox of Uhrichsville, Lori Cox of Deersville, Lloyd (Lynette) Cox of Uhrichsville, and Walt Smith of Sugarcreek, and were preceded in death by two infant sons. They are also survived by twenty-four grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, each of whom was uniquely precious to Delores, as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

Delores grew up as part of a large extended family which included her brother, Floyd R. “Tyke” Williamson; half brothers, Chuck and William; half sisters, Nancy, Linda, and Marlene; an uncle, Earl G. “Butch” Williamson; and an aunt, Annie Williamson.

A resident of the Twin City area for much of her life, Delores was a caregiver and nurses’ aide for a number of local nursing homes, including Dove Nursing Home, Morning View Care Center, Roahrig’s Nursing Home and South Broadway Nursing Home. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and spending time with her family, especially enjoying their large family get togethers. She was Pentecostal by faith.

Services for Delores, officiated by Rev. Jim Huston, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor Delores’ memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
