Debra Jo Fair

Debra Jo (Baker) Fair, 55, of Uhrichsville, O., died unexpectedly Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Union Hospital in Dover, O. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

She was born in Dennison, O. December 22, 1954 and was raised by her parents in Uhrichsville, O. She was the daughter of the late Barbara Jean (Vermillion) Shaw and James “Pete” L. Shaw.

Deb, as she was known by friends and family, was a devoted member of the Women of the Moose Charter 779 from the Uhrichsville Lodge 740. Deb loved spending time with her grandchildren and being with family and friends. She was the Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose and spent a lot of time helping with Moose events. On September 11, 1973, she married her late husband, Robert B. Fair, at Tippecanoe Church of the Nazarene in Freeport.

Surviving are her son, Robert J. (Heather) Fair of New Philadelphia; three daughters, Barbara J. (Willie) Franco of Tampa, Fla., Jamie (Brock) Pope of Palmetto, Fla., and Faith (Steven) Dingman of Sherrodsville; four grandchildren, Robert Ethan Fair, Ariel Dingman, Rebecca Franco, and Makayla Franco; a grandchild she loved as her own, Kaden DeVore of Bolivar; three unofficially adopted children, Keri Short of New Philadelphia and Greg and Shawna Schill of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Gayle (Roy) Hines of Tippecanoe and Melody Williams and her companion, Michael Stringer, of Uhrichsville; two brothers, Donald (Karrie) Baker of Uhrichsville and Richard (Molly) Baker of Uhrichsville; a half sister, Dorothy (Brad) Arbogast of Dover; stepbrothers, James (Josie) Shaw of Uhrichsville and Jerry (Barb) Shaw of Dover; stepsister, Nancy (Gary) Armstrong of Tuscarawas; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Mark Baker; a stepsister, Norma Devore; and her father-in-law, Robert V. Fair.

Following her wishes, Deb has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service and celebration of her life, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Douglas Downs, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 8, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison, beginning with a service by the Women of the Moose Charter 779. Her family will receive callers at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

In keeping with Deb’s great love for her grandchildren, her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations to honor her memory be made to a memorial account which has been set up at the Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union, 119 Fillmore Avenue, Dover, OH 44622 for the purpose of funding her grandchildren’s college educations.
