After her 1983 graduation from Riverview High School in Warsaw, Ohio, she enjoyed a career of nearly thirty years at Provia where she had been a customer support specialist and RMA coordinator. She was happiest when she was at home working in her flower beds and watching Hallmark movies, but had also spent many happy times on vacation with her friends.

On July 22, 1995, Debbie married Robert R. Sommers, Sr. with whom she enjoyed nearly 27 years of marriage until his passing on April 21, 2015. She is survived by three children, Amber (Phoenix) Andrson, Jeffrey Newell, and Sabrina Moore; a stepdaughter and stepson, Lisa (Keith) Swaim and Robert R. Sommers, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Charles Brooks, Tyesha Brooks, Jaxyn Anderson Karma Baumgarner, Alyssa (Dakota) Huebner, Ryan Sommers, and Kylynn Sommers; and five great-grandchildren. Debbie is also survived by her siblings, Thomas Burris, Timothy (Melissa) Burris, Todd (Lynette) Burris, and Becky (Scott) Shoemaker, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dillon Sommers, and sister-in-law, Karen “Koosie” Burris.

In keeping with Debbie’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. Her family will celebrate her life privately. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring her memory may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Ste. E, Uniontown, OH 44685.
