David A. Simmons

David A. Simmons, 63, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025 at Amberwood Manor in New Philadelphia. Born March 22, 1962 in Dover, Ohio, he was a son of Thomas H. and Sandra K. (Haskett) Simmons.

After completing his education from the Starlight School, he went on to work for Starlight Workship. David always enjoyed going on outings – whether it be to the zoo or out to eat – he was always happy to spend time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed going for a swim and going bowling. David was a member of Good Shepherd Fellowship of First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia.

David his survived by his parents; sister, Cristy (Don) Fellers; brother, Mark Simmons; nephew, Logan Simmons; and all of his beloved housemates and dedicated caregivers. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Edna Simmons. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to West Group Home for the loving care they gave to David for the last 36 years. They truly were part of his family. His family would also like to thank Ohio’s Hospice and Amberwood Manor for the end of life care they gave to David.

Services for David, officiated by Brother Dave Millard, will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, with visitation two hours prior from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., all at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Private inurnment will follow at Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery in New Philadelphia on a later date.
