David Junior “Jake” Maxwell, 95, of Dennison, was called to the more immediate presence of God on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison. Born July 2, 1926 in Dennison, he was the son of the late David Jediah Maxwell, Sr. and Bertha (Isenberg) Maxwell.
On January 12, 1951, Jake married Phyllis E. (McCue) Maxwell with whom he enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her passing on September 7, 2012. They are survived by two daughters, Carolyn Davis and Linda Miller; three grandchildren, David Miller, Sarah (Dom) Gatts, and Michael (Kaitlyn) Miller; and great-grandchildren, Storm, Zoey, and Atticus. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Marie Abel, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by their son, Gary Lee Maxwell.
A Twin City resident throughout his life, Jake was employed by Superior Clay for many years and enjoyed bowling, in his spare time. Jake loved music, especially playing his harmonica. He was a member of Uhrichsville First Moravian Church for over 60 years where he will be remembered for enthusiastically greeting everyone, both member and guest. He was loved and will be deeply missed by so many people whose lives he touched.
Pastor Dave Geyer will officiate his funeral at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, at Uhrichsville First Moravian Church. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Uhrichsville First Moravian Church.
