David Allen Hooker, 77, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Born June 4, 1940 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Verne Allen and Catharine Jean (True) Hooker.
After attending Dennison Schools, David was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in 1958. He furthered his education at Kent State University Tuscarawas. David honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to1963, during which time he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Randolph as an airborne sonar man during the Cuban blockade.
David retired from Betz Laboratories, Inc. after 27 years of employment and had also worked with his father in their family business, Hooker Tack-L-Matic. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church, was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, and had served as a treasurer for Knights of Columbus local council #576. He was also an avid genealogist, in his spare time. David loved the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, and was a faithful fan for many years.
On August 3, 1963, David married the former Rosalind Therese Eisenman with whom he enjoyed over 54 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Janet (Brad) Huntsman, Richard Neal (Janice) Hooker and Leslie (Nina) Hooker; sisters-in-law, Edie Walsh, Dorie Eisenman, Marsha Eisenman and Ellen (Fran) Eisenman; 23 nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Joe Walsh, Mark Eisenman and Frank Eisenman, and parents-in-law, Francis and Rosalind Eisenman, as well as his parents.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Friday, December 15, at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, concluding with a 6:45 p.m. Christian Wake Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Measure Up Campaign and the Disabled American Veterans.
