David Dean Davis, 86, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016, at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown, after a lengthy illness. Born May 24, 1930 in Canton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Charles Leroy and Anna Corrine (Stevenson) Davis. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Davis and Mary Hawkins.
David enlisted in the U.S. Navy while in high school and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943 and the American Legion. He worked as a mason for many years.
On November 18, 1977, David married the former Ramona Lou Clum who survives him, along with stepchildren, Crystal (Harold) Bobzien and Jimmie (Cathy) Blackwell; step-grandchildren, Nicole (Donald) Cooper, Rebecca (Ronnie) Turnbull, James Riggle, Matthew Bobzien, Angella Blackwell, and Marissa Blackwell; and step-great-grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Haugh, and Dakoda Cooper.
In keeping with David’s wishes, a graveside service, officiated by Rev. Brian Suntken, will be held in Gnadenhutten’s Clay Union Cemetery on Friday, September 2, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
