David E. Cutlip, 67, of Bowerston, Ohio, formerly of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison, after a lengthy illness. Born February 24, 1944 in Canton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Omer Vance and Thelma Edith (Dickinson) Cutlip.
A lifelong resident of the area, Dave was a graduate of Lakeland High School in the class of 1962. Immediately following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1966. Locally, Dave was employed by UPS for twenty-eight years until his retirement in 1995. He was also the owner and operator of Dave’s Unique Sports in Dennison. He was a Benefactor Member of the NRA, a Life Member of the Ohio Gun Collectors, a Life Member of Tusco Rifle Club and an Annual Member of the Pennsylvania Gun Collectors. He enjoyed shooting and hunting, and most of all, spending time on his farm.
On November 4, 1967, Dave married the former Karen Sue Foutz with whom he enjoyed nearly forty-three years of marriage until her passing on September 13, 2010. His surviving family includes a son, Matthew D. Cutlip and his wife, Michelle, of Mansfield; a granddaughter, Kennedy L. Cutlip of Uhrichsville; two sisters, Irene Penland of Canton and Sarah Bosio and her husband, Joe, of Stillwater; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Lynn Cutlip.
Services for Dave, officiated by Pastor Robert Russell, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the N.R.A. and Tusco Rifle Club.
