David A. Aldergate

October 1, 1947 — April 9, 2026

Dennison, Ohio

David Alan Aldergate, 78, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison on April 9, 2026, after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born on October 1, 1947 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Lester Joseph and Thelma Lucille (Plotts) Aldergate.

Dave was a 1965 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before furthering his education at Kent State University. In his teen years, he worked at Gooding’s Grocery in Uhrichsville. When called up in the draft, Dave honorably served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. His military service in Vietnam – which included exposure to Agent Orange – left him with lifelong health challenges that he faced bravely for decades. Upon returning home, he worked for Baumberger Carpet for a number of years before becoming the Superintendent of Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, Ohio – a job that he took great pride in for 35 years until his retirement in 2010.

On November 27, 1976, he married the love of his life, Amanda “Mandy” Lee (Pearch) Aldergate, with whom he was looking forward to celebrating 50 years of marriage in the fall. He is also survived by their daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Mike Wilkinson; granddaughter, Elizabeth Lee Wilkinson; brother, Keith (Pam) Aldergate; sister, Cathy (Doug) McPeek; brothers-in-law, J (Julie) Pearch and Kelly (Kathy) Pearch; sister-in-law, Lindy Pearch; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was recently preceded in death by his nephew, Christopher Aldergate.

Dave was an avid golfer who visited Big Bend Golf Course almost every day where he enjoyed spending time with his friends doing what he loved most. He will be remembered by friends, family, and golfing buddies alike for his robust sense of humor, and the clubhouse at Big Bend will feel a little quieter in his absence. Dave also had an affinity for all sorts of collectibles with some of his particular favorites being old movie posters and post cards. Above all else, Dave absolutely adored spending time with his wife, daughter, and beloved granddaughter, who proudly named him her “Pee Paw”, a name he wore like a badge of honor.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, cremation is planned. A celebration of his life will be held at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison on a future date. This website will be updated with service details as soon as they are confirmed. Those wishing to make memorial contributions honoring Dave’s memory are encouraged to do so to their favorite charity for the benefit of children, in lieu of flowers.
