Daniel Robert O’Connor, 67, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Born May 13, 1944 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Helen Marie (Whitman) O’Connor.
Danny was a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County who attended Tuscarawas High School in the early 60’s. He was a heavy equipment operator for a number of area businesses including Cantex, Puskarich Mining, Daron and, most recently, Newton Asphalt. He was a member of Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943. Danny will be remembered for the joy that he got from riding his motorcycle with his buddies, playing with his canine best friend, Casper, and especially rooting on the Cleveland Browns with his sons and his grandchildren.
On November 16, 1973, Danny married Cheryl D. (Brady) O’Connor who survives him at their home. He is also survived by four children, Suzan (Gary) Knight of New Philadelphia, Daniel R. “Rick” (Tiffany) O’Connor of Uhrichsville, Hayley D. (Timothy) McCormick of Gnadenhutten and Michael L. (Crystal) O’Connor of Tuscarawas; eight grandchildren, Steven, Douglas, Kyle, Brady, Brock, Brett, Lucas and Catelyn; four great grandchildren; three siblings, Peggy (Adolph) Arredondo of Dover, Leslie B. O’Connor of New Philadelphia; Linda (Roger) Fanning of Uhrichsville; several nieces and nephews, including Brent, Mark and Kelly and their families with whom he was especially close; and a host of dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Sue O’Connor.
Services for Danny, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society.
