Daniel Keith Mahon, II, aka “Dan the Mahon,” Danny, and Tigger to his mom, born August 24, 1967, in Akron, Ohio peacefully passed away on October 4, 2025, in New Philadelphia, Ohio after a long battle with liver disease. He had been surrounded by those who loved him and whom he loved. Dan was the son of Terry Lynn Senter and Daniel Keith Mahon, Sr., “Husband” to Cindy Sue Householder of Stillwater, Ohio and graduated from Ellet High School in 1985 in Akron, Ohio.
Dan will always be remembered for his larger-than-life personality. He lived his life to the absolute fullest and created a lifetime of memories in his short time here on Earth. Memories that, when shared, seemed too outrageous to be true. But when those wild and crazy stories that he loved to share – repeatedly – were corroborated by his brother, Mike, and his boi-s that he travelled the world with, everyone else was left shaking their head and wondering how he ever made it out alive to move on to his next adventure. We know this memorial is on the lengthy side, but for any of you who sat through one of Dan’s stories – which was anyone who met him – this will be like one of those stories.
Dan was not afraid to stand up for any injustice that he came across, in fact he readily looked for it so he could call someone out. Yet he reveled in breaking many laws in his 58 years because he lived life as if the rules did not apply to him – and often, they did not. Dan had this presence and confidence about him that made others see his kindness under the audacity of whatever he was saying or doing. So, no matter how mad he may have made you, you still wanted to hug him afterwards. That confidence and the care he always took for his appearance led to the “Not conceited. Convinced.” comment that his family often teased him about.
Dan fiercely loved his family and friends and always made grand gestures to show his love. When he was only 16, he spent months saving money from his first job to surprise his mom with the ceiling fan she’d always wanted but couldn’t afford – just to show his appreciation for all she went through raising them as a single mother. Years later, he flew home from England with Mike for his sister’s 16th birthday to surprise her. He never felt that saying, “I Love You” was ever quite enough. He felt compelled to show others how much he loved them. One of his proudest moments was getting to walk his sister, “Cole,” down the aisle with their brother, Mike, on her wedding day to Jason. He always considered himself a surrogate dad to her and they protected her fiercely as a result, so it was only natural to have had that honor with Mike.
In his early adulthood, Dan was blessed with being able to travel the world with Adonis: The Men of Hollywood, all male review. He travelled throughout most of Europe including the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Holland, Finland, and Greece, as well as Russia – but one of his favorite travels was to Punta Cana with his girl, Cindy. During this period of his life, he performed for Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, met La Toya Jackson in France, and appeared on Entertainment Tonight and The Giraldo Rivera Show. You can also catch him as an extra in the movies, Funny Bones and Unstoppable. No matter where he was, though, he easily made new friends, and right up until he left us, he was still speaking with most of those people he’d met from around the world.
After returning to the States full time, Dan tried his hand at some entrepreneurial roles that shall not be mentioned, then thankfully ended up in the drywall business with one of his buddies from Adonis. Dan had never been afraid of hard work and had been working since the age of 16. One day, after a long day of drywall, Dan ended up in a small sports bar in Canton, Ohio where he met the Love of his Life, Cindy, and for the next 20 years, they built a quiet life together in Dennison, Ohio.
Dan spent these past 20 years with Cindy, his dogs (Lily, Colby Cheese, and Toby) and the endless number of stray cats that he cared for because his heart could not handle seeing anyone or anything suffer. He enjoyed feeding the birds – a genetic trait likely passed down from his grandparents and mom – and meeting the guys at Rod’s Donuts in the morning, where he’d enjoy his chocolate peanut butter creme stick and some gossip.
Because Dan’s legendary personality filled up such a big part of this world, his absence has made the world of those he left behind seem a little smaller. A little emptier. And a little quieter. He would want us all to fill up that space by doing something extraordinary, or by taking care of a stray animal, making someone laugh, or by making sure someone you love knows that you love them.
Dan is survived by the Love of his Life, Cindy Householder; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael Allen Mahon and Angela (Lowe) Mahon; his sister and brother-in-law, Nicole Renee Parsons and Jason J Parsons; his nephew, Michael Allen Mahon II; his father, Daniel Keith Mahon, Sr. and his wife, Sue; his cousin, Jerry Lee Strain; his father-in-law, Bill Veley; sisters-in-law Cathy Vesco and Crystal (Veley) Edwards; nieces and nephews, Molly and Shane Stine, Megan and Kevin O’Dell, Jordan and Ashley Vosick, Kees and Marissa Edwards, Devon Edwards and Jared Fowler, and Kollin Edwards; half-siblings, Heather (Mahon) Smith and Joseph Mahon; friends and “brothers from another mother,” Drew Mauro, Joseph Mauro, and Christopher Mauro; and his friends, Jack Neiswonger, Brady and Mark Winland, and numerous others from around the world. As we stated, there are far too many of his friends to mention because Dan never met a stranger.
He joins in Heaven his mom, Terry Lynn (Senter) Mahon; grandparents, Oscar and Catherine (Buntin) Senter; aunt, Gwynne Lee (Senter) Strain; cousin, Frank L. Strain; mother-in-Law, Peggy Veley; friend, Don Martine; and fur babies, Sargeant, Boss, Gray, Lily, Colby Cheese, Toby, and countless others.
Dan did not want funeral services, but his family is planning to hold a celebration of his life later this year where everyone who knew Dan can come together to share their stories, memories, and love for him. Date and time will be announced at a later date, so get your stories ready. For those of you who know you will not be able to make it to his memorial later this year, please write your favorite memories down for us to share for you that day and send them to his sister at nicole.parsons@rgsa.com .
His family would like to thank The Truman House Hospice Center for their impeccable care during the last days of his life. His brother, Mike, and sister, Nicole, would also like to express their love and eternal gratitude to Cindy. She showed him unconditional love, especially through the most trying of times, and stood by his side through the best and worst of times for the past 20 years. He was the best version of himself when he was with her, he loved her with all his heart, and we love her more than words can say.
Daniel Keith Mahon, II. He did what he liked, and he liked what he did.
