Dale J. Poletti, 74, of Uhrichsville passed away on February 19, 2015 at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center following a brief illness. Born December 06, 1940 he was a son of the late Henry Joseph and Ida Mae (Clatterbuck) Poletti.
In 1958 he graduated from Uhrichsville High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Dale retired in 2002, after 42 years of working as a signalman on the railroad for Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central, Conrail, and Norfolk, and Southern. He was a past member of the Uhrichsville Moose and Dennison Eagles, a current member of the Railroad Retirees Club, and every Wednesday he enjoyed having breakfast with his high school buddies. He was Catholic by faith. Dale was a jack of all trades and loved working with his John Deere tractor, following NASCAR, and was well known for his ornery sense of humor. Dale will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dale was always there to support his children and grandchildren at any of their activities.
On August 6, 1966 he married the former Phyllis M. Tantarelli who survives him of their home. He is also survived by his children, Dale Jr. (Amanda) Poletti, of Gnadenhutten, and Lorie (companion, Dan Bridges) Poletti, of Uhrichville; grandchildren, Caitlin, Jarrett, Jhett, and Jilli Poletti; a great grandson, Colt McKenzie; sisters, Reeda (George) Slocum, Jackie Page, and Karen Garabrandt; numerous nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Chloe. Dale is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Recco.
Services for Dale, officiated by Pastor Brian Flood, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday February 24 at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society or a charity of their choice.
