Dale Frederick Kramer

Dale Frederick Kramer, 91, of Tippecanoe, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born March 3, 1927 in Medina, Ohio, he was a son of the late John Russell and Myrtle Leora (Adams) Kramer.

Dale spent much of his youth in Medina and attended Medina High School before graduating from Cadiz High School in 1944. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, having been stationed in France and Germany in 1944 and 1945. He also served in Maritime Services. Dale continued his service to his country and fellow veterans as a long time Commander for V.F.W. Post #6815, having presided over countless military committal services through his decades of service. He was also a member of the Three Rivers County Council and V.F.W. Post #9620. He was a life member of the N.R.A. and the Freeport Lions, as well as a past president of the Wingfoot Bow Hunters and the Westchester Senior Center. Dale lived in Akron for many years where he was employed as a technician for Goodyear Tire. In retirement, he moved to Tippecanoe where he has resided for nearly 30 years.

On March 11, 1951, he married the former Violet “Joan” LaPorte who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their children, Michael Dale (Debra) Kramer, Dawn Lynn Dundon, Tracey Louise (Clinton) Stubbs and Jacalyn Leora (Brian) Gilbert; 18 grandchildren, Aaron, Tracy, Adrian, Carrie, Katie, Nick, Heather, Chris, Jason, Rachel, Brian, Kelly, Roxanne, Blaine, Joseph, Michael, Tova and Dillon; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Krista Moss; brother, William Franklin Kramer; and sister, Mildred Madaline Wagner.

Dale leaves his family with many precious memories of their adventures together. A man of vast skills and interests, he especially treasured the times that he spent with his wife and family whether it was cross-country camping trips which included backpacking, biking, waterskiing and whitewater rafting; building his own home - starting by drawing up the plans himself; or hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail with his son. He was also an exceptional marksman and bow hunter, leaving his home decorated with many of his trophies.

In keeping with Dale’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. He will be interred in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman with a military committal service, on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
