Craig A. Smallcombe, 55, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 25, 2015, after a battle with cancer. Born February 6, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio, he was a son of Weltha L. (Caswell) Nedele and the late Richard Lee Smallcombe.
A 1978 graduate of Claymont High School, Craig was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired from Timken in 2013 after 30 years of employment. Craig enjoyed golf, gardening, and cheering on the Buckeyes, Browns and Indians, and especially, spending time with his granddaughter. Craig loved to travel, and he enjoyed trips with his wife to European cities including Paris and London in celebration of their 25th anniversary, and to Rome and Venice for their 30th, as well as many trips to Myrtle Beach.
On April 11, 1981, Craig married the former Ora Jean Jackson with whom he spent 34 years of loving marriage. He is also survived by his mother, Weltha (Max) Nedele; daughter, Nicolette (Mitch) Hodgkiss; granddaughter, Mackenzie Hodgkiss; siblings, Anita Henry, Richard Andrew (Mary Kay) Smallcombe, Andrea Smallcombe and Kyle James Smallcombe; nieces, Heather (Kevin) Bair, Ivy (Quinton) Banks, and Julia, Olivia and Ava Smallcombe; great-nephew and great-nieces, Drake, Meadow, London, and Ali; and many extended family members. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Fred and Jeannette Jackson.
Family and friends may call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 2pm to 6pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Immediately following the visitation, a gathering will be held in the Uhrichsville Elks banquet hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
