Constance Lou Pickens, 77, of Dennison, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia, after a period of declining health. Born June 19, 1944 in Wellsville, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Amanda (Russell) Hall.
Connie grew up in Wellsville and was a 1962 graduate of Wellsville High School. Locally, she was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Connie also had been an administrative assistant for Tuscarawas Insurance Agency after serving as the custodian at Immaculate Conception Elementary for a number of years.
On September 4, 1976, Connie married Thomas Eugene Pickens with whom she enjoyed nearly 42 years of marriage until his passing on June 27, 2018. They are survived by three sons, Thomas J. Pickens, Michael J. (Kristi) Pickens, and Howard (Karen) Poorman, and five grandchildren, Brayden, Aaliyah, Zachary, Carly (Jon), and Hannah (Jordan). Connie is also survived by her siblings, Richard (Roxanne) Hall, George Hall, Glenda (Joe) Anthony, and Ronald (Dorothy) Hall, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Hall, as well as her parents and husband.
According to Connie’s wishes, cremation is planned. Father Jeff Coning will officiate her graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison where she will be interred with her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church and Crossroads Hospice.
