Obit for Mother Constance M. Civiello (Nellie, Marnell)
Nellie, as most everybody knew her, for the past 93 years shared her warm infectious smiles and generosity with all she knew and met. Nellie became your friend with just one ‘Hello.’ The call came on Monday Oct. 20th, as this great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend felt it was time to return to her loving husband Carmen who had passed away more than 8 years ago. Nellie was born in Midvale, Ohio on Sept. 16, 1915 to the late Joseph and Fillipina (Valenti) Police. Nellie had owned & operated Marnell’s Millinery in Uhrichsville and Dennison for many years. This very ‘Classy Lady’ was known for her stylish clothes and made the wearing of hats a must in church and various events in the Tuscarawas county area. She belonged and donated her time and energy to every organization at Immaculate Conception Church and Dennison St. Mary’s School in Dennison, Ohio and was one of the very first ladies heading up various fundraisers for the American Red Cross in the county. She loved life and lived to love. The most important things in her life were her husband and children and all family members. She counted the days and hours until the next family gathering or visit by any family member and/or friend. She was also a very outgoing person who loved to join others on shopping trips and bus trips to Canada, New Jersey or wherever there might be some Casino action. She was always called ‘Lucky Nellie’ as she usually came home a ‘winner.’ Nellie loved to cook, and did so for days, in preparation for one meal and everybody would always rave about her meals and begged for the recipes. She always made enough to feed an army so her loved ones would have plenty to take home. It would take an entire tabloid to list all the great things she did and accomplished and how she affected so many lives in the most positive ways. She truly enjoyed her last four years as a resident of Park Village Nursing Home in Dover, where she became known as the ‘sweet little lady’ who always had a smile on her face. There she had made many new friends to add to her already long list, including Whitey, Caroline, Margaret, Floyd, Rose and her old pal, whom she loved to joke about, Bob Peters. Nellie was preceded in death by her Parents, Loving Husband Carmen, brothers, Sammy, Carl, Tony, Philip, Tommy, John and sisters Grace, Mary, Annie, Nellie is survived by her three Sons, Rocco (Elizabeth) Civiello of Uhrichsville, Carmen, Jr. (Nancy) Civiello of Strasburg, and David (Laurel) Civiello of New Philadelphia, Sisters Angie Ferchill and Mildred Ginnetti of New Philadelphia, Brother Charles Police of California, 14 Grandchildren, and 14 Great grandchildren and 1 Great-Great grandchild.
We are all forever thankful and indebted for Nellie’s legacy of love that she has left us. Her smile and laughter will forever linger with every falling leaf and every ray of sunshine. We will all pray for her daily as she did for all of us. We know she will continue to watch over and guide each and everyone of us forever. We will still have our chats daily as we have had with Dad for the past eight years. And now they are together again and this time forever in Heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated and her life celebrated and remembered, on Saturday Oct. 25th. at 10:00am in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison, Ohio with Father Ralko officiating.
