Constance "Connie" R. Hammond

Constance R. Hammond, 72, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Aultman Hospital in Canton. Born November 16, 1945 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Paul Enos and Bertha G. (Carpenter) Kauffman and her husband, Howard Jesse Kauffman, who raised her like his own.

Connie was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and a longtime member of the Uhrichsville Women of the Moose and the Twin City V.F.W. Auxiliary. In her younger years, she was active in the Girl Scouts with her daughters. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who was always caring and supportive of her family and her wide circle of friends. She will be remembered for her love of Mickey Mouse and her large collection of Mickey Mouse memorabilia.

On July 18, 1964, Connie married Walter Eugene “Gene” Hammond with whom she enjoyed over 52 years of marriage until his passing on December 6, 2016. They are survived by children Timothy E. Hammond, Holly A. Hammond and Jeffery E. (Kim) Hammond; grandchildren, Justin, Erica, Taina, Haley, Zach, Ian, Jeffery II and Nadalee; and great-grandchildren, Tayelynn, Zachiriah, Thomas, Spencer, Mylie, Forrest Jr., Harley, Baby Wayne “Rubba”, Jostalyn, Breona and Jaydin. Connie is also survived by her siblings, Leslie L. (Debbie) Kauffman, Tracy Kauffman, BabRhetta (John) Maxwell and Sharon (Lou) Christensen, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Taye Tinney; grandsons, Timmy E. Hammond and Cody Cox; and a brother, Barry W. “Bear” Kauffman.

Services, officiated by Pastor Larry Malterer, will be held at noon on Monday, February 5, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, during which time a 2:30 p.m. Women of the Moose Memorial Service will be held.
