Connie L. Bethel Dietrich

February 8, 1937 — January 22, 2026

New Philadelphia, Ohio

Connie Lou Bethel Dietrich, age 88, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, left the loving presence of her family and was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio, after living a long, full life. Born February 8, 1937 in Stillwater, Ohio, she was the youngest child of the late John Boston McPeak and Maude Frances (Crosier) McPeak.

Connie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker who had devoted her life to her family. She had also worked for Miller’s Studio in New Philadelphia and at the Tuscarawas County Courthouse in her younger years. A woman of great faith, she attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Canton, loved spending time reading her Bible, and enjoyed her "kitty cats". She also was an avid gardener – especially enjoying her flowers, and she loved searching out her family’s history.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Larry (Gloria) Bethel, Timothy (Kim) Bethel, Christine Dietrich, Eric (Erica Ross) Dietrich, and Sabrina (Jeremy Mitchell) Dietrich; many grandchildren, including Lorna (Jeremy) Park, Stephanie (Jimmy) Siebenaller, Sonny Bethel Jr., Jody Bethel, Holly Bethel, Cory Bethel, Lauren Bethel, Alicia Bethel, Michael Bethel, and Maverick Dietrich; and a number of great-grandchildren, including Josiah Park, Silas Park, Gideon Park, Treston Siebenaller, and Tatum Siebenaller; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family and friends will remember her remarkable strength and courage as she spent many years living independently even while confined to a wheelchair after suffering a massive stroke. Connie’s daughter, Sabrina, and granddaughter, Alicia, were integral in her ability to remain at home by serving as loving caregivers over the past two decades. Her will to live and thrive despite all obstacles are a shining example for all who knew her.

The last of her family’s generation, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond, James “Alfred”, and Carl McPeak, and sisters, Irma McPeak, Sylvia VanFossen, and Adeline Dunfee. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her son, Sonny Bethel Sr., and former spouses, Trevison “Jim” Bethel and August Dietrich.

A 1:00 p.m. funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 28, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, Ohio where her family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service. She will be interred in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery on a future date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Area Agency on Aging District 9.
