He moved to Tippecanoe in 1950 where he had worked as a stripminer for R&F Coal until his retirement. Jerry also loved working his family farm, raising beef cows and caring for all his animals that were so special to him. After his retirement from R&F Coal, he continued farming until the fall of 1999. He was a longtime member of Feedspring Church near Uhrichsville.
On October 19, 1942, he married the former Frieda B. “Betty” Dunlap with whom he enjoyed nearly fifty-seven years of marriage until her passing on May 6, 1999. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Jesse, William, Theodore and Carl who was his twin.
Jerry is survived by his brother, Robert M. “Bill” Quigley of Charleroi, Pa.; his dear sister-in-law, Betty Dunlap of Doylestown, O.; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will very much miss his humor, storytelling and good common sense, including a dear nephew, Glenn Motz along with his wife, Tammy, and their children, Jake and Georgia, and nieces, Yvonne Motz, Susie Motz and Gay Welty with her husband, Mark, and their son, Evan. Jerry is also survived by his most trusted and best friend, Robert Shepherd and his wife, Peggy, who were neighbors to Jerry.
