Clarence T. "Tom" Best

Clarence Thomas “Tom” Best, 65, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 in his home while surrounded by his loving wife and family, following a hard fought battle with cancer.

Born September 27, 1943 in Dennison, O., he was a son of Helen Christina (Coverdale) Best Brown of Tippecanoe and the late Ross Franklin Best.

Tom was a lifelong resident of the Stillwater area who enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army and was retired from Whitacre-Greer Brickyard in Midvale. Tom attended Rush Nazarene Church near Uhrichsville.

On April 1, 1967, Tom married the former Rose Lyvonne Jones who survives him and with whom he had one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Lisa) Gibson of Uhrichsville; two sons, Thomas Best and his wife, Erica, of Dennison, and Joseph Best and his wife, Jan, of Uhrichsville; and eight grandchildren, Tommi Marie Best, Billi Nicole Best, Chance Logan Best, Tyson Thomas Best, Morgan Ann Gibson, James Earl Gibson, Stanley Thomas Best and Mykey Best, with another grandchild expected.

Tom is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Betty) Romig of Tippecanoe and Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Page of Uhrichsville; a brother, Ross Best and his wife, Sherry, of Uhrichsville; numerous nieces and nephews; his dear canine companion, Sadie; and a host of extended family and friends.

Services for Tom, officiated by Dr. Douglas Downs, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Rush Church Cemetery near Uhrichsville.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Tom’s family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
