Clarence Ezra Mcclelland

June 30, 1926 — January 18, 2011

Clarence Ezra McClelland, 84, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, after several battles with cancer. Born on June 30, 1926 in Fulton, N.Y. to the late Howard and Clara (Stilb) McClelland, Clarence made his home in Dennison for the past eight years and enjoyed the people and the friendly atmosphere of the community.

Clarence married the former Genevieve R. Smith on December 2, 1950 and lost his loving wife and soulmate on September 2, 2010. They would have celebrated sixty years of one of the most loving unities that two people could ever share. Together again, they will continue their loving romance, which started as children, for all eternity. Every rainbow we see will tell us that our mother and father are hand in hand, watching over their children and protecting them as only angels can do.

Of our father, we can say without any question, that he would have a PhD in common sense and unerring judgement. Clarence has always said that an education, without common sense, is only a piece of paper and you squeaked by life with your eyes closed to the world around you.

Along with Genevieve by his side, Clarence devoted his life to his children, preparing them for any obstacle and hardship that may come their way. They did so together and gave their family all of their love and devotion, with a cherry on top, because they could. And we will all carry on and live for them as they lived for us.

Clarence and Genevieve are survived by their loving and devoted children, Sheila, Randy, James, John, Nancy and twins, Darla and Delbert; grandchildren, Kelli, Tina, Dawn, Christopher, Sara, Kyle, Andria and Jordan; and great grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Nico, Washo, Kaden and Izayah. Clarence also adopted a special nephew, Butch, and gave him the same wisdom and strength that he gave all of his children. Other surviving family members are his half brothers, Pete, Mike and Phil; half sisters, Roxanna and Esther; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey.

Clarence was a quiet man and a hard worker, even after retirement. He loved nature and working in the yard, digging, planting and gardening. He always believed that living and being alive were two entirely different things. He believed that the simple things in life were the most important. Clarence lived for every moment and made the most of every day.
In keeping with Clarence’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. His family will honor his memory with a private gathering which will continue until “we are all together again”.
