Clarence Allen Ferguson, Sr., 80, of Barnhill, passed away at his home on Monday, December 29, 2014. Born July 8, 1934 in Tippecanoe, he was a son of the late William and Heloise (Hauser) Ferguson.
A lifelong resident of the area, Clarence proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He then had a long career as a truck driver for several area companies.
On May 28, 1959, he married the former Audrey Ohler who died on October 5, 2003. They are survived by daughters: Rosemary (companion, Bill King) Stayner, Mary Ann (Todd Sr.) Metcalf, Penny Watson, and Melissa (Dan) Hupp; sons: Clarence (Sandy) Ferguson, Jr. and Jeffery (fiancée, Marilyn Butler) Ferguson; grandchildren: Jennifer Stemm, William and Roy Hunter, Todd Jr. and Matthew Metcalf, Eric and Cpl. Eddie Velez, Kaesha Waggle, Brady Jr., Brandon, Bradley and Braden Bird, and Christopher, Tiffany, Courtney and Jamie Ferguson; and 23 great-grandchildren. Clarence is also survived by his brother, Tom (Virginia) Ferguson; sister, Patty (Larry) Ohler; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Peggy Sue Ferguson; brother: William “Buss” Fergsuon; sisters: Helen McDaniel, Irene Tichemor, Elizabeth Ferguson and Gladys Ohler; and a great-grandson.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison with visitation for an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia with a military committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
