Clara M. Rainsberg, 103, formerly of Uhrichsville, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Hennis Care Center in Dover. Born January 25, 1912 in Sherrodsville, she was a daughter of the late William and Cloie (True) Penick. Clara was also preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Rainsberg; sister, Vera Eichel; brothers, Floyd and Homer Penick; and son-in-law, William Knotts.
Clara was a lifelong resident of the area and a longtime member of Feed Spring Church where she served as the church organist for many years. She was very active in her congregation, as well as with the Brownsville Christian Church’s Helping Hands. She will be remembered for her excellent pies and her beautiful sewing, even having made the New Philadelphia cheerleader’s uniforms in the past.
Her surviving family includes children, Dortha “Dot” Knotts, Eileen (Carl) Stansbery, Harold “Bud” (Nancy) Rainsberg, and Carol (John) McDougall; grandchildren, Michael (Robin) Knotts, Greg (Candy) Knotts, Daniel (Brenda) Knotts, Jim (Allison) Sokowoski, Cathy Stansbery-McConnell, Joseph (Jennifer) McDougall, and Julie (Chris) Stamets; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Lydia, Heather, Devin, Jacob, Danielle, Brooke, Brennan, Cole, Carver, Cambrie, and Cooper; 4 step-great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren, Ayden and Wesley; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Clara, officiated by Pastor Milo Baker, will be held at 11am on Friday, June 19, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed Spring Church.
