Clara Jean Lyon

June 27, 1928 — August 31, 2013

Clara Jean Lyon, 85, of Tippecanoe, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Hennis Care Center in Dover after a prolonged period of declining health. Born June 27, 1928 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Ephriam Theodore and Ruth A. (Carter) Lamneck.

Jean was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1946. During high school, she worked for the Five and Dime Store in Uhrichsville and later had a long career with Ohio Bell in Uhrichsville until the office closed in the 70’s. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including ceramics, knitting, crocheting, crafting and refinishing furniture. Along with her husband, she was a member of Park Grange for many years.

On September 16, 1951, Jean married Samuel Thomas Lyon with whom she enjoyed over 43 years of marriage until his passing on February 12, 1995. They are survived by a son, Ted (Mary Jayne Mallernee) Lyon, and two grandsons, Ted A. “JR” Lyon, II and Kirt N. (Mindy Marty) Lyon, all of Tippecanoe.

Services for Jean, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Gnadenhutten’s Clay-Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the funeral service.
