Clara Nelda “Cherry” Schupp, 81, of Dennison, O., passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 30, 1927 in Uhrichsville, O., she was a daughter of the late Nelson C. “Jake” and Maude (Hiller) Wilcoxon.
On January 9, 1949, Cherry married Richard D. Schupp who survives her. She is also survived by a son, Jeffrey Alan Schupp of Dennison. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karin Schupp on April 15, 2008.
Cherry is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. Harry (Helen Wilcoxon) Lane of Lancaster, O., Mr. and Mrs. Ted (Ethel Wilcoxon) Shilliday of Columbus, O.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Norma Martin of Gnadenhutten; and a number of nieces and nephews. A sister, Mrs. Jean Wilcoxon Kropp, preceded her in death, as well.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Cherry was also a licensed beautician who worked for Jean Watt’s Beauty Shop, Patterson’s Beauty Shop and Sara Jane’s Beauty Salon in Dennison, having been a graduate of Canton Beauty College after graduating from Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1945. She had taken care of the bookkeeping for Dick’s Evergreens, her husband’s business, for forty years.
She was a former member of Prosperity Grange and a member of the Union Twp. Country Club where she enjoyed many years of home cooked meals and sharing the day with her many friends. Cherry loved taking care of her family and was a wonderful cook, making many dozens of cookies, candies, cakes, pies and bread for all the holidays. Cherry dearly loved her dogs and cats and will be dearly missed by her son’s cat, Oreo. She was Moravian by faith.
Services for Cherry, officiated by Rev. William E. Surber, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her parents in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
