Christopher E. Bente, 49, of Scio, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. Born June 5, 1961 in Wheeling, W. Va., he was a son of Janet (Johnston) Bente of Scio and the late Delvert E. “Deb” Bente.
A resident of the area for most of his life with the exception of about fifteen years while he lived in Virginia, Chris was a 1979 graduate of Conotton Valley High School and a member of Conotton United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved deer hunting.
In addition to his mother, Chris is survived by a son, Christopher B. Bente of Carrollton; a daughter, Trista N. Bente and her fiance, Michael Hunt, of Carrollton; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Hunt; two sisters, Mrs. Rick (Tammy) Shuttlesworth of Haughton, La. and Kim Bente of Scio; a brother, Sam Bente and his wife, Vickki, of Bowerston; nieces and nephews, Taryn Shuttlesworth, Caryn Batista, and Brodie and Samantha Rae Bente; a great nephew, Kaleb Batista; uncles and aunts, Ray Johnston, Harry and Shelley Johnston, Darlene Lucas, Jessie Klinck, Patsy Fucello, Bill Bente and Joyce Parker; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Frances and Harriett Bente and Bea and Roy Baker.
Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 13. A private family service, officiated by Rev. Dan Betts, is planned with interment following in Beaver Valley Cemetery near Scio. Those wishing to honor Chris’ memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to help support the medical expenses for Cooper Schaar (age 7), in care of his grandfather, Keith Schaar, P.O. Box 75, Sherrodsville, OH 44675, or donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
