Christine Colvin

Christine (Haney) Colvin, 79, of Dover, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from Union Hospital in Dover, due to a long term illness. She was born in Hazard, Ky. on March 18, 1932, a daughter of the late Robert L. Haney, Sr. and Goldie Ellen (Wills) Haney Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by three brothers, Edward, Bobby and Joe Haney; two sisters, Lula Jane (Haney) Slocum and Virginia (Haney) Gatten; and a grandson, Corey Colvin.

On May 18, 1971, Christine married Thomas E. Colvin who survives her at their home. She is also survived by their children, Rhonda Colvin and her fiancé, Tod Persons, of Bolivar, Cathy Colvin and companion, Jim Bonner, of New Philadelphia, and Thomas Colvin, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Malvern; three grandsons, Brandon and Cody Raber and Aaron Colvin; a brother, Robert L. Haney, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of New Philadelphia; a sister, Maryann (Haney) Sterms of Holloway, O.; a sisters- and brothers-in-law, Linda Haney of Newcomerstown and Mary Colvin, Laura and Larry Colvin, Nancy Colvin, and Charles and Vera Colvin, all of Dover; her longtime friend and caregiver of ten years, Cheryl Laughlin and her husband Duane “Bob”;and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Christine’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia, without a public viewing. Pastor Larry Fletcher will officiate. Those wishing to honor Christine’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
