Chris Byron Bloom, Jr., 84, of Port Washington, Ohio, formerly a longtime Uhrichsville, Ohio resident, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown, Ohio, following a lengthy illness. Born November 11, 1940 in Windber, Pennsylvania, he was the last surviving child of the late Chris Byron Bloom, Sr. and Edna Irene (Benedum) Bloom, having been preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Kaiser, Edna Veirheller, and Joann Henry.
From the age of five, Chris grew up in Uhrichsville and was a 1958 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962 before returning home to a nearly forty-year career at Commercial Honing, retiring in 2002. He was an active member of the Uhrichsville Moose for over 55 years. Chris was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending his free time in the great outdoors.
Chris will be deeply missed by his children, Daniel (Kathy) Bloom, Randy (Jo) Bloom, and Becky Bartholow; grandchildren, Michelle, Chris, Angie, Zachary, Randy, Josh, “T”, Scott, and Allisha; many great-grandchildren, including Javen, Ana, Arabella, Addison, Christopher, and Wynter; his longtime loving companion, Linda Fox, and her daughters, Ida M. Hurst and Raye Lynn (Gene) Galbreath; sisters, Sherry Hammonds and Kristy Barkett; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and sisters, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Frances Mae Pugh, to whom he was married on January 6, 1961 – enjoying over forty years of marriage until her passing on September 3, 2001.
Pastor Randy Stull will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Tuesday, June 24, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Garden at Dover with a military committal service. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, concluding with a Moose Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m., prior to the funeral.
