Chester Eugene Struchen

Chester Eugene Struchen, 88, a resident of Bowerston Pointe Rehabilitation Center near Leesville, O., formerly a resident of Dennison, O., passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Bowerston Pointe, following a period of declining health.

Born June 6, 1920 in Bergholz, O., he was a son of the late Charles Abraham and Elva (Peterson) Struchen. Chester was the last of his generation, having been preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Lehigh, and his brother, Melvin Struchen, as well as a niece, Debra Lehigh, and a nephew, Tom Struchen.

He is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including, Pam Wright and her husband, Bill, Beth Dittfeld and her husband, Jorg, Brian Dittfeld and his wife, Sara, Susan Dittfeld, Justin Lehigh, his wife, Gretchen, and their daughter, Debra, Eric Wright, Steve Wright, and Marlene Gromley, her children, Ronnie, Mindy and Brian, and her husband, Fred.

A resident of the area for most of his life, Chester was retired from Larson Claypipe in Gnadenhutten where he had been employed for many years. He also had enjoyed transferring cars for Singlinger Chrysler in Gnadenhutten.

In keeping with Chester’s wishes, he will be cremated without a public visitation or service. A private family graveside service, officiated by Rev. William Wright, will be held at a later date when Chester is interred at Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery beside his parents. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choosing.
