Charlie Lee Whitman, 67, of Uhrichsville, passed away suddenly in Hart Co., Kentucky on August 29, 2023 after a brief illness. Born January 31, 1956 in Logan, West Virginia, he was one of 13 children of the late Rextal Ray and Viola (Mayhorne) Whitman. He was also preceded in death by nine of his siblings, including Raymond with whom he was especially close.
A resident of Uhrichsville since 2009, Charlie had previously lived in Cleveland. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in the mid 1970’s. Charlie was an over the road truck driver for over 25 years and was currently out on assignment at the time of his passing. In his spare time, he liked to golf, and he enjoyed attending church at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon with his wife. Most of all, he cherished the time that he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren – all of whom he loved dearly.
On November 6, 1989, Charlie married Antoinette P. “Toni” (Churgovich) Whitman who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their children, Charles L. (fiancée, Nichole Hronek) Whitman, Brandy (fiancé, Dakota Beckett) Whitman, Hallie (fiancé, Derrick Stump) Whitman, and Quinn (Tyler) Crabbin; grandchildren, Gage, Kylie, Ena, DJ, Maverick, Lala, Kateda, Zander, Mackenlee, Aubrey, Bailey, and Arielle; and great-grandchild, Zaylee. Charlie is also survived by his siblings, Michael Whitman and Drema Whitman; children from his previous marriage, Charles Whitman Jr., Jodie Whitman, Steven Whitman, and William Whitman and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews. A beloved canine companion, Sophia, preceded him in death recently.
A private, family service is planned prior to his interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
