Charles Wayne Fisher, 76, of Barnesville, Ohio, formerly of Dennison and Tippecanoe, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Liza’s Place (a hospice facility) in Wheeling, W. Va. after a period of declining health. Born September 27, 1935 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Leonard J. and Elsie Mae (Hess) Fisher.
A resident of the Barnsville area for the past twenty-five years, Mr. Fisher grew up in Dennison, where he was a member of Park Christian Church, and lived there until the mid-60’s, at which time he moved to the Tippecanoe area. He was employed by the Twin City Water Department for many years before becoming a truck driver and, eventually, an auctioneer and realtor until his retirement. While living near Tippecanoe, he served his community as a trustee for Harrison County’s Washington Township. In his spare time, he loved woodworking and especially enjoyed making and refinishing furniture.
Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife of over seven years, Iris K. (Nissen) Fisher of the home; two children, Ruth (Ted) Miller of Sugarcreek and John (Sandra) Fisher of Barnesville, and their mother, Anna Fisher; several stepchildren, including Carl L. (Debbie) Justice of Kimbolton and Dale R. Justice of Hendrysburg; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Fisher, Jennifer Losey, Brenda Trachsel, Tad Miller, Michael Taylor, Brin Miller, Melissa Guns and Benjamen Fisher; thirteen great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Dick F. (Judy) of Uhrichsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Fisher; son, Douglas W. Fisher; sister, Virginia Fisher; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis E. and Mary R. Fisher and Judson E. and Clara Fisher.
Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5. A private, family graveside service is planned at Clendenning Cemetery. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the hospice organization in their local community.
