Charles Ray Parrish, 83, of Uhrichsville, died Saturday, March 28, 2015, at his home, after a lengthy illness. Born June 1, 1931 near Gilmore, he was a son of the late Walter Harry and Elsie Mae (Sanders) Parrish.

Charles proudly served his country in the Army in the 50s and 60s. He was a Twin City resident throughout his life and was a member of the Christian Temple in Uhrichsville. In 1992, he retired from Costain Coal and had previously worked for Tusco Manufacturing in Gnadenhutten.

On September 23, 1953, Charles married the former E. Louise Keith who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Steve (Mary) Parrish, Kevin (Anisa) Parrish, Greg (April) Parrish, and Gail Parrish; grandchildren, Mike (companion, Serenity) Parrish, Melissa (Jason) Knight, Jason (Melissa) Parrish, Tyler (companion, Chastity) Parrish, and Brittany (companion, Steve) Parrish; 2 step-grandchildren, Zack Schlarb and Keegan Putnum; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Parrish and Larry (Sharon) Parrish; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Parrish; granddaughter, Stacey Parrish; great-grandson, Bret Knight; brothers, Luther and Walter Parrish, Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Frank Hall, Faye and Lester Cerana, and Patty Parrish; sister-in-law, Vada Parrish; and half siblings, Clyde, Warren, Beryl, Ardith, and Eva.

Services for Charles, officiated by the Revs. Larry and Janie Hostetler, will be held at 5pm on Tuesday, March 31, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with two hours of visitation before the service. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Community Hospice, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
