Charles R. "Tooie" Crites II

Oct 26, 1950 — Oct 17, 2026

Uhrichsville, Ohio

Charles Richard “Tooie” Crites II, 75, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia on Saturday, October 17, 2026, following a sharp decline in health. Born October 26, 1950 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late Charles Richard and Margaret Lenelle (née Bailey) Crites.

Chuck grew up attending Gnadenhutten Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Indian Valley South High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge on New Year’s Day of 1976. He went on to have a 31-year career with the Tuscarawas County Road and Bridge Department.

He was a jack of all trades who could fix or build almost anything. He especially loved doing projects to help his wife with her horses – even building a barn for them. He was always happiest when he was tinkering with something.

On August 21, 1993, Chuck married Betty Ann (née Aldergate) Crites who survives him at their home. His surviving family is completed by his sister, Linda Rothacher; brother, Terry Crites; and his faithful canine companion, Bentley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two-year old son, Adam W. Crites.

In keeping with Chuck’s wishes, he will be cremated without a public visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring his memory may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
