Charles C. Anslow, 77, of Newcomerstown, was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 12, 2014, from Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. Born August 7, 1937 in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Lula (Aggan) Anslow. He was also preceded in death by his companion of 27 years, Sarah Watson; brothers: Larry, Rex, Joe, Bill and Dave Anslow; and sisters: Mary Belle Arnold, Betty Reichman and Gwen Taylor.
After high school, Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. A lifelong resident of the area, he worked for several local businesses over the years, including Smurfitt Stone and Cabott Lumber. He loved working on cars and remodeling houses, and in his spare time he enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting. He will be lovingly remembered for his lively sense of humor.
Charles is survived by 5 children: Raymond Anslow of New Philadelphia, Charles (companion, Naomi) Anslow of Midvale, Donald (Bonnie) Anslow of Newcomerstown, Darlene (Arthur) Walker of Uhrichsville and Kelly “Tootie” (Jeff) Kerns of Strasburg; grandchildren: Danielle, Charla, Gina, Stacy, Tiffany, Jayme, Shayna, Ryan, Lynsey, Justin, and Kelsey; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Keith and John Anslow; sister, Carol Stull; sisters-in-law, Patty and Evelyn Anslow; the children and grandchildren of his companion, Sarah, who were dear to him; many nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Becky.
Pastors Archie E. Jackson and Kevin Anslow will officiate his funeral service at 6pm on Wednesday, September 17, in St. John’s Worship and Praise Community Church, 1030 Cook St., Uhrichsville, OH 44683. Visitation will be 4-6pm on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
