Carolyn L. Wright

Carolyn Lee Wright, 68, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 24, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Born June 12, 1943 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Archie and Wanda Marcella (Bricker) Hankins.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Carolyn was a home health aide for many years and had also cooked for the former City Auto, L&K and Mary Jo’s Restaurants. She was a member of the Uhrichsville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary who enjoyed fishing, softball, bingo and cheering on the Cleveland Indians. She attended Uhrichsville Foursquare Gospel Church.

On July 3, 1964 Carolyn married Larry Edward Wright who preceded her in death on October 21, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Lynn Wright; a brother, Aubrey “Butch” Hankins; and a son-in-law, Leon A. Roup. Her surviving family includes five children, DeWayne A. (Nik-ki) Wright of Uhrichsville, Kelly Jo Sherrets of Dennison, Tonda Sue Scott and Carolyn D. Wright of Dennison, and Ruthann Stoll of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Travis (companion, Crystal) Milligan, April Cody, Amber Myers, DeWayne A. (companion, Cyndi) Wright, Jr., Michelle Ann Wright, Jamie Ray Parrish, Tiffany Renee Parrish, Mark Burroway, Haley Parrish, Coty A. Scott, Buck T. Hammonds, Ashlee D.N. (Josh) Davis, Justin E. A. (fiancé, Montana) Wright, and Trevor J. Patterson; great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Skyler, Brayden, Mackenzie, Alexis, Jacob, Brandi, Kaidence, James, D.J., Kylan, Braylan, Parker, Mason, and Jaylynn who is expected; sisters, Kathy (James) Helter of Tippecanoe and Margaret Jean Simmons of Gnadenhutten; sister-in-law, Rachel Hankins of Dennison; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends of the family, Michelle Pivonka, Bob Sallade, Christine Civiello, Steven Sanders, Jessica Lorenz, Carlene Howell, Seira Kramer, and Kathy, Barbie, Susie and Janet Shipman. Carolyn’s family wishes to express their gratitude to Ember Home Health Care and Community Hospice for their excellent care during her final illness.

Services for Carolyn, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. In the spirit of Carolyn’s laid back attitude in life and her love of the Cleveland Indians, those in attendance are encouraged to wear casual clothes in red, white and blue or their favorite Cleveland sports gear.
