Carol Sue Beckley

Carol Sue Beckley, 66, of Dennison, O., passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison from complications following surgery.

Born March 4, 1943 in Harrison Co., O., near Tappan Lake, she was a daughter of the late Charles Edgar McGill and Mary Margaret (Quillen) Garabrandt McGill.

Sue was a lifelong resident of our area, having been a graduate of Port Washington High School in the class of 1961 before making her home in the Twin Cities for many years. She was a cook for a number of area restaurants, including the former L & K Restaurant, Rod’s Donut Shop, Perkins and the S & E Truckstop.

Sue was the loving wife of Charles Robert “Chuck” Beckley to whom she was married on September 20, 1962. She was also a devoted and loving mother to her four sons: Mark Beckley and his wife, Deborah, of Uhrichsville, Danny Beckley of Dennison, Timothy Beckley of New Philadelphia, and John Beckley and his wife, Kimberly, of Gnadenhutten; and her daughter, Rebekah Albright, who preceded her in death.

She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Derek, Anthony, Alex, Ashley, Shawn, Brittany, Steven, Christine, Tyler, and Courtney; and two great grandchildren: Hunter and Brock. Sue was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed making clothing and took special delight in making hand-sewn quilts for each of her grandchildren upon their graduation from high school.

A son-in-law, Douglas Albright; sister-in-law, Freda Garbrandt; nephew, Wayne Garbrandt; and niece, Tootie Stiffler survive her, as well.

Services for Sue, officiated by Rev. Bob James, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will be in Conotton Cemetery beside her beloved daughter.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society or charity of their choice.
