Carol A. Mcdonald

October 12, 1956 — April 5, 2025

Carol A. McDonald, 68, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, with her loving family at her side. Born October 12, 1956 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Robert Eugene and Patricia Ann (Patterson) Wharton.

A lifelong Twin City resident, Carol was a 1974 graduate of Claymont High School before marrying Roger L. McDonald on June 15, 1974 who survives her at their home. Together, they were blessed with two sons, John McDonald who preceded her in death in 2021 and Michael (Sarah) McDonald who survives her. They also welcomed grandchildren into their family, Trevor (Jamie) Dykes, Travis (Cassidy), Trenton (Jilian), Hayden, Spencer, and Izabella McDonald, Anthony Hren, Micah McDonald, and Trey Householder, as well as a great-granddaughter, Emerson Dykes and another great-grandchild expected in October. Carol’s surviving family is completed by her sisters, Holly Lynn (Gary) Robin and Cathy Jean (Bill) Helter; daughter-in-law, Amanda McDonald; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by her brother, Terry William Wharton.

Those who loved Carol most describe her as forgiving, calming, supportive, and caring. Her grandchildren say she was the sweetest grandmother but could be tough when she needed to be. She was supportive and the best grandma any of them could ask for. Carol was always there for her family and always gave the best hugs.

Carol had worked at the Tuscarawas County Home (formerly Colonial Manor) in the dietary department for many years. She enjoyed card games and spending time with her friends in The Jolly Jokers Canasta Club and other card clubs. She also spent many years bowling in leagues with her mother and sisters. Most of all, she treasured being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Carol’s wishes, cremation is planned. Her family will hold a private celebration of her life on a future date prior to her interment in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Lung Association.
