Carol J. Ditto

Carol Joyce Ditto, 83, of Dennison, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 12, 2021, after a period of declining health. Born January 31, 1938 in Tuscarawas County’s Rush Township, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Charles “Len” and Thelma Inez (Sproul) Metcalf.

Carol was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and a 1955 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, she was employed as an Administrative Assistant at ODOT for many years. She was a member of Eastern Star of Carroll Chapter #315 and an avid fan of the Steelers, Buckeyes, and Indians.

On September 19, 1970, Carol married David Verne Ditto with whom she enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his passing on November 5, 2015. They are survived by two daughters, Dee (Patrick) Beckley and Michele (Jim) Ankeny; five grandchildren, Shea (Mindy) Burdette II, Seth (Kiley) Burdette, Laynee (Shayne) Dorland, Ashley (companion, Joe) Beckley, and Kayla (companion, Skyler) Beckley; and ten great-grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Quillen and Delores Stotler; brother, Daryl Metcalf; sister-in-law, Jean Butler Metcalf; numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend who was like a son to her, Bobby Long. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rodney “Punch” Metcalf, and an infant sister, Nadine Metcalf, as well as her parents and husband.

Pastor Harold Barber will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Thursday, August 19, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
