Carmen M. Marlatt, 54, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after a brief illness. Born September 16, 1958 in Dover, she was a daughter of Callene M. (Starkey) Stoyanovich Peterson of Gnadenhutten and the late George Stoyanovich.
Carmen was a graduate of Indian Valley South H.S. in the class of 1976 before beginning her 32 year career with Community Mental Healthcare in Dover. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter and homemaker in addition to her full-time employment, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her incredible sense of humor and joyful love of life. She loved spending time with her family which included her beloved canine companions, Jack and Lily, and especially enjoyed trips to Atlantic City with her mother and daughter. She was a member of Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.
On October 27, 1984, she married Jeff C. Marlatt who survives her at their home. She is also survived by her mother; son, Jameson C. Marlatt and his wife, Elizabeth, of Columbus; daughter, Lacy A. Marlatt of Gnadenhutten; brother, Kelly Stoyanovich of Gnadenhutten; aunts, Ruie A. Horsfall of New Philadelphia and Ethel Starkey of Louisville; mother-in-law, Jessie Marlatt Russell of Gnadenhutten; and sister- and brother-in-law, Marsha and Chet Meek of Gilmore. She was preceded in death by her father; stepfather, Robert Peterson; and grandparents, John and Lucy Starkey and Milan and Rose Stoyanovich.
Services for Carmen, officiated by Pastor Gregg Kelly, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery in Freeport. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Those wishing to honor Carmen’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
