Carla J. Ferguson

Carla Jean Ferguson, 75, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio on Tuesday, October 20, following a lengthy illness. Born August 20, 1951 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Emogene (née Coleman) Rankin.

Carla was a resident of Dennison throughout her life and was a 1969 graduate of Claymont High School. She enjoyed a 35-year career at Giant Eagle Supermarket in Dover until retiring as the manager of their seafood department. She was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose. In her free time, she enjoyed letting her artistic side come out – making beautiful crocheted and knitted creations. She will especially be remembered for making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. Most of all, Carla treasured her family and the time that she spent with them. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and brought her the greatest joy imaginable.

On November 20, 1971, Carla married Lloyd Lee Ferguson with whom she was looking forward to celebrating fifty-five years of loving marriage next month. She is also survived by their sons, Heath (Tammy) Ferguson and Adam (Lori) Ferguson; beloved grandchildren, Keith (Miranda) Riley, Ayden Ferguson and Landyn Ferguson; and great-grandchildren, Kinzlee and Karson Riley. Carla’s surviving family is completed by her siblings, Bruce (Lori) Rankin, Rex (Brenda) Rankin, and Lisa (companion, Terry Dexter) Beam; sister-in-law and best friend, Elaine Hawkins; dear friend and neighbor who was like a sister to Carla, Goldie Host; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shelley Rankin Lewis.

Pastor John Stevenson will officiate a private, family graveside service in Deersville Patterson Union Cemetery where Carla will be interred. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
