Carl Arnim Dudgeon, 87, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, following a two-month battle with cancer. Born January 26, 1934 in Chester, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Francis Josiah and Forrest Ellen (McGraw) Dudgeon.
Carl was a 1952 graduate of Dennison High School who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 865th AAA Missile Battalion in Van Nuys, California. He was a pipefitter with Union Local #95 for many years until retiring in 1996. Carl was a longtime member of the former Mystic Tie Lodge #194 F. & A. M. and attended Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church.
On March 26, 1955, Carl wed the former Lois E. Phillips with whom he celebrated 66 years of loving marriage this spring. He is also survived by their sons, Jeff (Joanne) Dudgeon of Dennison and Joseph (Jeannie) Dudgeon of Kansas; grandchildren, Drew (Crissy) Dudgeon, Deidra (Garry) Lute, Diana Dudgeon, Jim (Lindsay) Dudgeon, and Tom (Alyssha) Dudgeon; great-grandchildren, Miles, Mara, Emmett, Hank, Clara, Lucas, Emma, and Harlow, with another expected; and step grandchildren, Katie Kelley, Christopher Day, and Kyle Day, along with their families. Carl is also survived by his brother, William (Nodie) Dudgeon, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Naomi “Ruth” Hughes, Harold Dudgeon, Marion Dudgeon, Helen Voshall, Ruby McCombs, and Lucille Gilcher.
Pastor Kory Rowland will officiate a 12:30 p.m. graveside service on Wednesday, October 6, at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church and Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
