Calvin L. “Butch” Dague, 68, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Union Hospital in Dover, O., following a period of declining health.
Born July 11, 1941 in Uhrichsville, O., he was a son of the late Calvin and Anna Mary (Heston) Dague. A resident of Tuscarawas County for his entire life, Butch resided in Dennison for many years before moving to New Philadelphia. He was an employee of Starlight Enterprises.
Butch was a very special man who enjoyed life to the fullest. Throughout his life, he found great joy in attending local festivals and was especially delighted by parades. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers, and loved the time that he volunteered at Tuscora Park. He enjoyed meeting people, was loved by so many, and will be missed by all.
His family would like to thank Dr. Maaz Ahmed for the wonderful care he gave him. They would also like to thank the I.C.U. nurses, Stepdown nurses, and 2nd Floor Medical South nurses and aides who took such wonderful care of him in his last days at Union Hospital.
They are also grateful to the New Philadelphia Fire Department for being such good friends to Butch and for watching over him, also the New Philadelphia Police Department, Sam Hitchcock for helping him while he worked at Tuscora Park, and especially Tommy Harmon for being his friend and walking buddy.
Butch is survived by his brother, Harold E. Dague with whom he had shared his home; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Tom Septer of New Philadelphia; two nephews, Tom Septer, Jr. and his wife, Tina, and Tim Septer and his wife, Amy; and great nephews, Tommy III and Zachary Septer, and Jarrod Durst, all of whom will miss him so very much.
Services for Butch, officiated by New Philadelphia Fire Department Chaplain Pastor David Carrick, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside his parents in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
Those wishing to honor Butch’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so, in lieu of flowers, to the New Philadelphia Fire Department toward the purchase of a John Deere Gator for use in remote areas. Donations made by check should be made out to the “City of New Philadelphia” with a notation in the memo section stating “Calvin Dague Memorial Fund” and mailed to the New Philadelphia Fire Department, 108 2nd St. S.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
