Bruno F. Menapace

June 6, 1920 — March 5, 2010

Bruno F. Menapace, age 89, of Dennison, O., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 5, 2010. He was surrounded by his family in his home.

He was born on June 6, 1920 in Austria, a son of the late Carlo and Mary (Anselmi) Menapace.

Along with his wife, the former Rose Marie Richards, whom he married on May 6, 1943, he will be sadly missed by his son, Bill (Debbie) Menapace; three daughters: Mariann (Terry) Pennington of New Philadelphia, Janice (Bob) Saggio of Reynoldsburg, O., and Cathy Menapace of New Philadelphia; two brothers: Rudy Menapace of Dennison and Johnny Menapace of Riverside; a sister, Mary (Frank) Maniscalco of Deer Park, N.Y.; eight grandchildren: Brian (Lisha) Pennington, Jeff (Lisa) Pennington, Mike (Phoebe) Pennington, Chris (Kacey) Saggio, Nicole Saggio, Matt Menapace, Kerry (Greg) Jones, and Amy (Dominic) Wray; nine great grandchildren: Tyler and Danielle Pennington, Kayla, Karlie and Kennedy Saggio, Joseph Bruno and Nicklas Pennington, Erin Jones and Maile Wray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carlo and Mary Menapace, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances, and two uncles, Mario and Romano Menapace.

Bruno was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a World War II veteran, a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Knights of Columbus, and a retiree of the Penn Central Railroad. His son, sons-in-law, daughters and grandchildren will miss the good times “Grandpa” played cards with them. He was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Indians, Cavs, and Browns fan.

Services, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 8, in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday where a Christian Wake service will be held at 6:45 pm. Those wishing to honor Bruno’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County and Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund, in lieu of flowers.
