Bruna “Babs” Madoni, 87, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia, after a period of declining health. Born May 20, 1928 in Avonmore, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Julia (Maccagnan) Bottegal.
A graduate of Avonmore High School, Babs attended Westminster College before marrying the love of her life, John Arthur Madoni, who preceded her in death on March 22, 2009. They are survived by their children, John Madoni, Thomas (Debbie) Madoni and Amy Myers; son-in-law, Mike Bache, Sr.; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Young, Kellyn (Brian) Greenwalt, Kelsey Wilson, Logan Myers, and triplets, Brandon, Carina and Kyle Madoni; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Bache, and brothers, Albino and Joe Bottegal.
Babs was active in her community throughout her life, having served on the Claymont Library Board for 25 years, as well as teaching the “Hinges and Twinges Class” at the YMCA for more than 25 years, earning her the honor of Volunteer of the Year. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Society since moving to the Twin City area in 1968.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Saturday, April 9, at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery in Avonmore, Pennsylvania. In keeping with Babs’ wishes, no public visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church Altar Society and Community Hospice.
