Brenda Kay Taylor, 53, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in her home, after a brave battle with cancer.

Born in Dennison, O. on October 26, 1955, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Rita (Smith) Smith.

Brenda was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and a graduate of Claymont High School in the class of 1973. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, as well as reading and playing bingo.

Her surviving family includes her husband, Allan R. Taylor; two daughters, Jennifer Baker and her fiancé, Doug Renner, of New Philadelphia and Mandie Horstman and her husband, Tim, of Gnadenhutten; five grandchildren, Brittany, Noah, Matthew, Paige and Peyton; a sister, Linda Goosman and her husband, Paul Duerig, of New Philadelphia; five brothers, James C. Smith of Uhrichsville, John Smith and his wife, Patsy, of Sardis, O., Ralph Smith and his wife, Annalee, of Uhrichsville, Gary Smith and his wife, Vicky, of Newport, and David Smith and his wife, Roxanna, of Newcomerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Brenda will also be sadly missed by her dear canine companion, Chia.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Smith.

In keeping with Brenda’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation or service. She will be interred in Greenmont Union Cemetery at Freeport.

Those wishing to honor Brenda’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, in lieu of flowers.
