Bob Burrell Septer

September 6, 1942 — April 14, 2013

Bob Burrell Septer, 70, of Tuscarawas, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2013 after a fifteen year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born September 6, 1942 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Robert Clifford and Betty Marjorie (Swaney) Septer.

Bob was a 1960 graduate of Uhrichsville High School where he was active in the band, playing drums and the saxophone. He also enjoyed playing the piano. He was a lifelong resident of the area who was a machinist for several area companies before starting his own business, Uhrichsville Carbide, which he owned and operated for many years. He was also a gunsmith who operated a custom gun shop for over fifteen years with clients throughout the country and internationally. He was an avid trap shooter for over forty years and was proud to have earned the national title in the Grand American Trap Shoot when he shot a perfect 100 out of 100. He was very competitive and gave 100% in anything he did, from trap shooting to corn hole to cards. He was a devoted family man who loved being with his wife, children and grandchildren.

On November 21, 1959, Bob married the former Karen Marie Green who survives him at their home. He is also survived by six children, Bobby Burrell Septer, Jr. of Uhrichsville, Billy John Septer of Alabama, Beth Ann (Joseph) Perry of Uhrichsville, Brett Allan (Rhea) Septer of Uhrichsville, Bart Kevin Septer of the home and Michelle Yvette (companion, Steve Colaner) McPeek of Dover; 18 grandchildren, Jay, Loralye, Michael, Michella and Savannah Septer, Bobbie Sue Leglise, Nina McBride, Nayla Pica, April McCauley, Heather Novosel, Jessica Perry, Thomas and Eric Septer, Donna Cox, Brittany Williams, Brandon Yoder, and Madison and Makenzi Colaner; 21 great-grandchildren with two more expected; sister, Carole Neighbor of Ashland; brother, Tom (Barb) Septer of New Philadelphia; aunts, Ruby Septer and Joyce Preston; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members; a special friend, Don Shalosky; and his dear, canine companion, Lucky.

Services for Bob, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
