Billy Napier, Sr., 80, of Port Washington, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio. Born September 22, 1940 in Hazard, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Hershel and Edna (Salyers) Napier.
A Tuscarawas County resident since 1955, Billy was employed by Michigan Sewerpipe for 21 years before working in construction until his retirement. In his spare time, he loved hunting, fishing, and gardening, and will be remembered for his beautiful flower gardens.
On July 25, 1961, Billy married the former S. Marie Cox with whom he enjoyed nearly fifty years of marriage until her passing on March 17, 2011. They are survived by 7 children, Gerald (Laurie) Napier, Mark (Cindy) Napier, Jamie Napier, Lisa (Sky) Cox, Billy (Becky) Napier Jr., Jeff Napier, and Jesse (Missy) Napier; 14 grandchildren, Gerald (Christina), Dawn (Jay) Darrick (Jordan), Jessica, Ryan, Ariel (Kalvin), Mark Jr. (Hannah), Heather, Jamie Jr., Mark (Nu), Andrew, Justin (Destiny), Katie (Dante), and Ali; and 16 great-grandchildren with two more expected. Billy is also survived by his siblings, Ed (Anna) Napier, Betty Patterson, Darryl (Cheryl) Napier, and Lillie (Robert) Fox; former daughter-in-law and dear friend, Donna Matthews; close friend, Sonny Milburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rev. Jim McConnell will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Thursday, May 27, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside his beloved wife in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
